What You’ll Learn

Students in the Dental Assisting Program are introduced to the major skills and responsibilities needed in a dental office, including:

Chairside assisting, infection control, dental radiography basics, dental anatomy, dental materials, dental charting, alginate impressions, restorative procedures, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery assisting, endodontics, periodontics, front office basics, resume preparation, CPR, and professional dental office communication.

Hands-On Lab Training

Students attend weekly in-person lab sessions where they practice the skills that dental assistants use every day. Lab training is designed to help students become more comfortable with dental instruments, operatory setup and breakdown, infection control, procedure flow, patient safety, and chairside support.

Students may choose from the available in-person lab options:

Friday Labs: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Saturday Labs: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Externship Experience

The program includes a 50-hour externship designed to give students real-world exposure in a dental office or clinic setting. During externship, students have the opportunity to observe, assist, and apply the skills they learned during the program under the supervision of dental professionals.

Students are responsible for helping identify and secure their externship location, and the site must be approved by Smile Squad Academy with the proper agreement in place.

Admissions Requirements

To apply, students should be prepared to:

✨Be at least 18 years old
✨Complete the application and enrollment agreement
✨Provide a state or government-issued ID
✨Meet high school graduation or equivalency requirements
✨Submit payment or select an available payment option to reserve their seat

Graduation Requirements

To successfully graduate, students must complete the program requirements, including attendance, coursework, written and practical exams, CPR certification, externship, and financial obligations.

Students must maintain at least 80% attendance and earn a passing grade of 70% or higher.

While job placement and salary cannot be guaranteed, our program is designed to help students build the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to pursue opportunities in dental assisting.
